Dears,
I have two versions of SQL Server : SQL Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2012 SP4
1) Can I do Fabric SQL Mirroring with those? Or they are to old versions to allow it?
2) And what about CDC ? can I enable CDC on those to pull data via Fabric datafactory into Fabric lakehouse? Or they would need to be newers versions from a SQL Perpective?
These are on-prem SQL DBs
Thanks,
Pedro

Azure SQL Managed Instance is a PaaS service, hence this is not driven by the engine version per-se, but if you have either "Always up to date", SQL Server 2022 or 2025 update policy set up then it would fully support Mirroring.

Hello @fabricpribeiro
Unfortunately neither of your on-premise SQL Server versions support mirroring. Microsoft Fabric SQL Server mirroring supports:
1) SQL Server 2016 - 2022
2) SQL Server 2025
Here's the Microsoft document reference

However, there is CDC support with both of your SQL Server versions. Please bear in mind only Fabric Data Factory Copy Job supports on-premise SQL Server as a CDC source.
Thank you very much, just one more question please. How about SQLServer Managed Instance? which versions support Fabric SQL MI mirroring?
