Fabric Data Agent as a chat window in a browser

Hi,

Is there a way we can bring fabric data agent as a chat window in power bi dashboard/browser.

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

@ann33 ,

Great follow-up. As of now, there’s no direct connector or SDK bridge between Power Apps and the Fabric Data Agent. The agent doesn’t expose a public API or SDK output that Power Apps can consume natively.

That said, here’s a workaround you can explore:

  • You can use Power Automate as a middle layer. If your Data Agent output is stored in a Lakehouse or a Warehouse table, you can trigger a flow from Power Apps that queries that data using a custom connector or HTTP request (if exposed via REST API).
  • Another option is to use Azure OpenAI or Azure Bot Framework to simulate the agent behavior, and embed that into Power Apps. It won’t be the exact same agent, but you can replicate the logic using your Fabric data as the backend.

Hi @ann33 ,

Right now, there’s no native way to embed the Fabric Data Agent as a live chat window directly inside a Power BI dashboard or browser view. The agent is designed more for structured Q&A over datasets, not as an embeddable widget.

That said, here are a couple of workarounds you might explore:

  • If you're using Power BI Service, you could embed a Power Apps visual that connects to a chatbot (like Power Virtual Agents or Azure Bot Framework) and interacts with your Fabric data via APIs.
  • Another option is to build a custom visual or use a web content tile that links out to a chat interface hosted elsewhere.

Microsoft might expand this in the future, but for now, it’s more of a hybrid solution.

You can keep an eye on updates here:

Let me know if you want help setting up a Power Apps + chat integration.

If my response resolved your query, kindly mark it as the Accepted Solution to assist others. Additionally, I would be grateful for a 'Kudos' if you found my response helpful.

Thank You for responding. Is there an integration option for power app with data agent/ data agent sdk output?
