I am unable to create free trial account for micorsoft fabric. Can you please help me on this.

Based on your query, please find below the steps to resolve the issue:

If your tenant was created recently (within the last few days), Microsoft may impose restrictions on Fabric trials for new accounts. Kindly confirm the tenant’s creation date with your IT team.

Microsoft Fabric trials may be disabled by administrators. Please verify whether trials are enabled for your tenant. You may contact your Fabric/Power BI administrator to confirm if trials are permitted.

If your organisation already has an active Fabric capacity (e.g., F64 or higher), trial activation will be blocked. You can check this by navigating to Microsoft Fabric Admin Portal > Capacity Settings. If an existing capacity is available, it should be utilised instead of initiating a new trial.

Fabric trials may not be available in certain regions due to regional restrictions. Kindly ensure that your tenant’s home region supports trial activation.

Attempt to activate the trial again by navigating to Fabric Homepage > Account Manager (top-right profile icon) > Select Free Trial. If the option is unavailable, try accessing My Workspace and create a Fabric item (e.g., Warehouse or Lakehouse). This action may trigger the trial activation prompt.

In order to create a Free Trial account, you need to use a Work email account. you can use any online resources to create a workplace like email ID and try creating a trial account on that ID.

If you are using a work like email ID and still getting issue creating a free trial, then please check if the region is causing the issue.

it either the region or the email id being used might have been used to create a t4rial account already.

try creating with a new work email.

if you have azure account on any of your email, you can create a new user in the Entra page under user section.
you will be given a work like email id in that case too.

kindly do try all these and let me know if you still are facing issue.

please provide the steps you followed and what error message you are getting, this will help us in understanding the issue in detail.

Hi @Santhanam , @v-aatheeque ,  @Rufyda ,  Neither I have work like email address ,nor Azure account to register as user. Is there any way I can generate one work like email address. Few months ago we had option using Microsoft developer accout we could have generate work like email address and create free trial account for fabric.

I want to create free trial account an take most advanteges of it. If you guys know, you can create one free trial account for me. Many thanks!!

To proceed without a corporate email, you can create a Microsoft 365 Developer account, which provides a work email address suitable for accessing Microsoft Fabric. Here's how:

• Visit the Microsoft 365 Developer Program and sign up. This account includes a Microsoft 365 E5 subscription with a work email address.
• After setting up your developer account, follow the Step-by-Step Guide to Enable Microsoft Fabric for Microsoft 365 Developer Account to activate Microsoft Fabric.
• By creating a Microsoft 365 Developer account, you can access Microsoft Fabric without needing a corporate email address.

Based on the message you received, “You don't currently qualify for a Microsoft 365 Developer Program sandbox subscription,” please note that Microsoft has recently updated the eligibility criteria for developer subscriptions. Currently, access is limited to:

• Developers or organizations with an active Visual Studio Enterprise subscription
• Members of the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program under one of the following categories:
  • ISV Success
  • Solutions Partner
  • Specialization/Expert
  • Managed Partners
  • Premier or Unified Support plan members

If you are not eligible under these categories, you may consider:

• Purchasing a single-license Microsoft 365 plan and configuring it for development
• Adding a Copilot license as needed for enhanced capabilities

Additionally, regarding Microsoft Fabric trial access:

Fabric trial capacities are no longer supported for newly created Entra ID and Microsoft 365 tenants (less than 90 days old).

This change was implemented to address the unsustainable usage patterns arising from the ease of creating new tenants solely for testing or learning. As a result, Fabric trials will not be provisioned for such tenants, even if the setup is legitimate.

Recommendations:

• If possible, try initiating the Fabric trial using a more established tenant — preferably one tied to a work or school organization with active usage across Microsoft 365 services.
• Alternatively, consider purchasing an F2 capacity or higher, which offers flexibility for development scenarios. For example, F2 capacity costs approximately $0.35/hour and can be paused and resumed as needed.
