Can't enable SQL Preview in Tenant Setting (Under Premium Capacity)

I don't see an option to enable sql preview in tenant setting in admin portal. Both home and capacity regions are in the region where the sql preview is offered. The only thing is that I'm trying to enable the feature under Premium Capacity (P SKU), not Fabric Capacity. Might this be a reason why I'm not seeing the prevew feature in my tenant setting?

Hi @sbae1145,

Thank you for reaching out. and Thank you @lbendlin for your response.

To clarify, the SQL Endpoint Preview setting is controlled at the Tenant level, not at the individual capacity (Premium or Fabric) level.
However, currently, SQL Endpoint Preview is available only for Fabric-enabled workspaces, and traditional Premium capacities (P SKUs) do not support Fabric features, including SQL Endpoints.

Since you are operating under Premium Capacity (P SKU), you would not see the SQL Preview option until you either move to a Fabric Capacity (F SKU), or enable a Fabric Trial for your tenant/workspace.

If you believe your setup meets all Fabric requirements and you still do not see the option, we recommend opening a support ticket

Hi @sbae1145 ,

Yes, the reason you’re not seeing the SQL Preview option in the tenant settings is because you’re using Premium Capacity (P SKU) rather than Fabric Capacity.

The SQL Endpoint Preview is only available under Microsoft Fabric Capacity, which supports advanced features like lakehouses, warehouses, and SQL analytics endpoints. Even if your region supports SQL Preview, it won’t appear unless your tenant is backed by a Fabric Capacity.

To enable SQL Preview:

  • You’ll need to acquire a Fabric Capacity SKU (e.g., F64 or higher).
  • Once assigned, the SQL Preview option should appear in the tenant settings under the appropriate capacity.

it's on tenant level, not capacity level

I'm trying to enable the preview feature at a tenant level, but I don't see it listed. I enabled Fabric inside Power BI Premium Capacity. Didn't purchase Fabric Capacity separately from Azure.

yeah, should work.  Since you have a Pro license you can open a Pro ticket at https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/newsupportticket/powerbi
