Hi,
We have an on-premises SQL Server, which is accessible via a data gateway, and CDC (Change Data Capture) is enabled on the server.
We are attempting to capture CDC changes from this on-premises SQL Server into our lakehouse.
However, when we try to create an event stream using the 'SQL Server on VM DB (CDC)' as the source through a SQL connection, we receive an error message: 'There was an error in the process. Please try again later.' The error doesn't provide a specific cause and simply asks us to retry.
Could you please confirm if it's possible to use an on-premises SQL Server as the source, or is it required to use a SQL Server hosted on an Azure VM instead?

Hi @Anonymous ,
Sorry, so far, to my knowledge, this is not supported.
You can use SQL Server on VM DB (CDC) source.
For sources supported by Eventstream, see:
Add and manage eventstream sources - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn
Add SQL Server Change Data Capture as a source to eventstream - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn
