bpip changes in git

Hello Guys,

how you are handling bpip local changes ?

jaryszek_0-1746612719580.png

You are ignoring them in gitignore?

Best,
Jacek

Hi @jaryszek ,

Yes, changes to .pbip local files like localSettings.json and cache.abf are typically ignored using a .gitignore file. These files are generated locally by Power BI during development and often contain environment-specific or non-critical metadata , which doesn't need to be tracked in version control.

To handle them properly:

Add to .gitignore:

*.pbip/localSettings.json
*.pbip/cache.abf

Or, if you want to ignore all .pbip internal files:

*.pbip/*

Note: This keeps your Git repo clean and focused on essential files (like the actual report content, model definitions, and metadata).

Hi @jaryszek ,

No, the bpip local changes are not being ignored via .gitignore—they are being tracked by Git and are currently unstaged.

Hi,

"No, the bpip local changes are not being ignored via .gitignore—they are being tracked by Git and are currently unstaged."

so if i addthem to gitIgnore they will not be shown as unstaged ones?

Best,
Jacek

Ignore, that is what the default .gitignore added by pbip does
