We use a dashboard at my company to show managers various exceptions to pricing that they need to approve. Instead of going into the system of record an indicating their approval, I'd like to provide them with a way to indicate their approval (and add comments) in Power BI and have that data push to the system of record through the use of that system of record's API. I'm essentially looking to keep them in Power BI and NOT in the system of record.
Any ideas?
Could you please explain a bit for the trigger event?
Maybe this could be implemented through Microsoft Flow?
Regards,
Michael
Michael,
Here is what I'm envisioning:
The user would be looking at a Power BI table visual that shows loan number, interest rate and some other related fields. The user would be required to approve each row by clicking something (preferably a button) and entering comments about the reason for approval. Those comments, the date/time of the approval, and the user's name would then be passed through the REST API of an external application.
I like your thought of using Microsoft Flow. I've looked at the product in the past and I'll take another look to see if its a possibility. Ultimately, I want the user working out of Power BI since that's where we're driving people to consume data. If Flow is able to be embedded in Power BI reports then maybe we can accomplish this. I'm also looking a bit at PowerApps to see if I can use that platform.
