Tips for developing Power BI and Tableau Visuals

Hi devs,

I am planning on developing visuals for both Power BI and Tableau in the near future. I wanted to know if any of you have pulled this off and if so, what were your challenges? Is it a good idea to have a shared codebase for both or is it better to do it standalone?

Also, if you have developed any visuals for Power BI in general, do you have any tips? Would love to start a discussion here.

Any tips and feedback would be appreciated.

Hope you all have a great day,

Sri

Hi @Anonymous

There are two sides to everything, and the advantages and disadvantages of a shared codebase are obvious, so you will need to decide whether to use it or not based on your own circumstances. Although PowerBI and visual in Tableau are very similar, they are not exactly the same thing. Depending on the complexity and number of visuals in the development process, the pros and cons of using a shared codebase are different and you need to weigh them against each other

 Kind regards

 Morty
