SupportsEncryption property

I'm working on a custom Power BI connector and encountered the SupportsEncryption property (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-query/handling-data-access). When set to true, it prompts a new window that allows users to choose whether they want their connection to be encrypted. However, this option appears to only work in Power BI Service. Could someone please provide more details on how this works for Power BI Desktop? I haven't been able to find any information about this. Thank you in advance.
