Still issues with Developer mode and Git Integration

Hello all

This is a follow-up post from this one: Developer mode & git for reports with live connection

Today, I retried this functionality, but there are still issues.

Now, I work with this approach:

  1. I Publish the Semantic Model through Git to the Workspace
  2. I create a new report and store it as a Project in a separate folder, which is not synced with the Workspace
  3. I manually publish the report to the Workspace
  4. I synced the added Report to Git, and all went well
  5. After a few seconds, I got a message that there was an Update from Git.
  6. I Try to Sync the Workspace with Git, and I get an error message with these Details:

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Is there any solution to this?

To me it looks like that the Power BI service changed the published report and now there is the need for a Sync.

At this time I still have the message, that there is an Update from Git. But I cannot Sync.

Regards

Salvatore

Hi @SalvaC ,

It seems like you're encountering an issue with Git integration in Power BI Developer mode. Based on the error message provided, it appears that there might be a problem with the report definition file ('definition.pbir'), which is preventing the service from discovering dependencies. Could you please try the following steps?

1. Verify the report definition file(definition.pbir): check there is no syntax error or unexpected character

2. Make sure that the locally stored report and the version in the workspace are consistent. Any discrepancies might cause sync issues.

3. Update the version of Power BI Desktop to the latest one and republish it to Service

Best Regards

Thank you for your answer.

I had to remove everything and sync again.

Something was wrong during the first time.

Now everything ist OK.

Anyway, are there any news on the topic in the previous Discussion linked above?
