See slicer value options through API

Is there a way to see what values are available for selection in a given slicer through the api?

I'm writing a validation process using the embedded api to, one at a time, select any value for a single slicer and then export data, then doing the same with the next slicer. I know how to set values, export data, restore the report to its default state (I set a bookmark for this), but just don't know how to get an valid example value for a given slicer. Is there some automated way of getting a list of values that are available for selection for that slicer? It doesn't have to be through the embedded api if there is some way to accomplish this in the REST api or elsewhere, I'm open to that, though the embedded api is prefered if its possible there.
