Questions on Power BI REST APIs and APPs

Hi

I am new to Power BI and its Apps, Rest APIs, Please answer the following questions so that it helps me proceed further:

1. When i create an app through the https://dev.powerbi.com/Apps, It is not reflecting in portal.azure.com (in Active directory - App registrations) and also in https://app.powerbi.com/home. Am i expecting wrong? Because, it needs to be same app everywhere when i use the clientid or client secret, so that it does not mismatch in the api calls. I may create an app in active directory in portal.azure.com or dev.powerbi.com/apps, if they been created seperately it will be a problem to use APIs. Please suggest and guide me on this.

2. I have a created an app in azure.portal.com with abcApp and generated clientId and Client_secret, granted Power BI permissions to that app, but when i access them through the app.powerbi.com/home by creating workspace with that same app name and published, i am having 401 Unotherized for each API call. Ofcourse i am able to generate a authtoken from and for the following resources:

resource: https://analysis.windows.net/powerbi/api
https://login.microsoftonline.com/2cdfd332-097b-4983-b373-e393fafa436a/oauth2/token
not sure what i am missing here as well?

Please guide me and help me in this regards to proceed further, had already googled alot but not sure what is causing the issue even if i follow the same instructions.

Hi @Anonymous,

1. It should be in the Azure App lists. Maybe it is hidden by default. Please refer to the snapshot below. You can click "All apps" to see it.

2. The App in the Service is the App Workspace while the App in the Azure is an application. Surely you can name them with the same name.

Which API did you call? Did you look at the rest/api/power-bi/ documents? You should send proper parameters.
