IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THIS FOR ADVICE ON HOW TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE!

Importing the numpy C-extensions failed. This error can happen for
many reasons, often due to issues with your setup or how NumPy was
installed.

We have compiled some common reasons and troubleshooting tips at:

    https://numpy.org/devdocs/user/troubleshooting-importerror.html

Please note and check the following:

  * The Python version is: Python3.9 from "C:\Users\ajay_\anaconda3\python.exe"
  * The NumPy version is: "1.21.5"

and make sure that they are the versions you expect.
Please carefully study the documentation linked above for further help.

Hi All

I am attempted to use the Python connector in Power BI for the first time, I set up an environment using Anaconda using the following commands

  • (base) C:\Users\ajay_>conda create -n new_env_pbi python==3.7
  • Proceed ([y]/n)? y
  • (base) C:\Users\ajay_>conda activate new_env_pbi
  • (new_env_pbi) C:\Users\ajay_>pip install pandas
  • (new_env_pbi) C:\Users\ajay_> pip install seaborn

I then tried to use the Python Connector in Power BI Desktop using this and got the above error

import pandas as pd
df = pd.read_csv ("C:/Users/ajay_/OneDrive/Desktop/Files/Power BI/Courses/Python Courses/Python for Power Bi Users/HR_file.csv")

Anyone seen this before and can you see what I may have done wrong?

Hi @ajay_gajree ,

Please use "//" in a string path.

Please try this code:

df = pd.read_csv ("C:\\Users\\ajay_\\OneDrive\\Desktop\\Files\\Power BI\\Courses\\Python Courses\\Python for Power Bi Users\\HR_file.csv")
