Push Data Set - Column Sort Tool Broken

So, I am using Push Datasets for an Embedded PBI application.

Conceptually, its working pretty well, with a few exceptions.

While designing Reports using these PushDataSets, some portions of PowerBi Desktop are broken. Specifically, 

1. Unable to Sort a Visual by an alternate, not visible column (Month Index Column), but displaying Alpha Month in chart visual)

When selecting the Column and the Visual, Column tools appears, but is completely disabled, making it impossible to sort by an alternate column.
