I am trying to build a visualization tool for my work, but I'm new to PowerBI and am having trouble understanding the logic for connecting similar tables with different information. My problem is as follows: I have a multi-tab excel sheet, each tab containing a table with the same rows and columns, but the information on each of them is specific to a different entity. I wish to show the differences between these entities while still showing their overarching categories (i.e. the column names and respective information), but when I try to add the categories to the x or y-axis it asks me to create a new relationship, which I don't think I need or know how to do properly. Please help me out!
Thank you,
Matt.
Hi @Anonymous ,
To create a visualization that compares the different entities in your multi-tab Excel sheet, you can follow these steps:
Append the tables: In Power BI, you can use the Append Queries feature in the Power Query Editor to combine the tables from different tabs into a single table. This will create a new table with all the rows from the original tables, and you can add a new column to identify the entity each row belongs to.
If these two tables do not have any relationship between them, your visual won't know how to display your data together.
