Power BI Slicer: Default to Current Year with Option to Select Dates from Other Years

Hi,

I am creating a slicer in Power BI with a 'Between' style, which defaults to the current year's date range but allows users to select dates from other years as well. However, when using 'Filter on this visual,' the dates are restricted to the current year only. I also tried using a measure, but it resulted in the same limitation, as the slicer is bound to the current year's dates.

I need help on this.

Please see the attached screenshot where I am unable to select dates from other years.

Thank you.

Hi @RuchiK ,

According to your statement, I think your issue should be caused that the date column you add into the slicer only contains date between 2024/01/01 to 2024/12/31.

As far as I know, the between slicer will only show data in your table.

I can reproduce your issue on my side.

I think you can create a new calendar table with dates range you need. Here I create a calendar table between 2023/01/01 to 2024/12/31. Result is as below.

Hello @RuchiK ,

Create a new calculated column in your dim_date table. That new calculated column needs to be show current year and other year based on your dax. After that create a new slicer in your page and put the new calculated column.

Kind Regards,
