Passing Parameters from MS Teams to an embedded Power BI Dashboard

How do I pass a parameter from a MS Teams channel to an embedded power bi dashboard. I have a dashboard that shows the status of all projects but from the projects specific teams channel I want to pass the team name to the dashboard so the dashboard only show the specific team status?

I've read that if you invoke a webpage from a Teams Channel by supply the URL to your Dashboard then you may be able to embed a parameter in the dashboard URL ?

Hi,

I didn't want to pass the channel name, I want to pass a project name to the Power Bi dashboard from a channel so then when I open the dashboard from a project specific channel the dashboard will only show the project in the parameter I passed.

Hi @Dcolpman ,

As far as I know, currently Power BI doesn't support us to pass the channel name as a parameter from MS Teams channel to Power BI Report.

Currenly, we can use dynamic rls to restrict data to let user could only read the data they has access to.

Manage Role:

User stephen could only see channel 1.

Please only give users in your channel as read permission or viewer role in app workspace to make rls work.
