Office 365 Management API anonymization for reports

I'm trying to use O365 Management API for my reports but I'm not allowed to get the data in the form it comes from API as it contains personal information (email + ip).

Is there some way I could anonymize the data straight from the API call that I don't need to setup data warehouse solution?

I tried to use Office Admin Portal setting to anonymize, but it seems that i won't affect Management API what I see from the data.

Hi @Jameli ,

I'm afraid there's no suitable way for you to access these Office 365 Management API and get the data anonymously. As the official documentation below explains, you need to have certain right to access it. After all, these APIs will return confidential information (user, backend operations, admin, system and policy actions etc.)...

In addition, as the documentation suggested, you can raise question in below site.

If you have questions about the Office 365 Management APIs, post your question on Stack Overflow, using the [office365] tag.

Thank you, I'll try asking Stack Overflow as well.

Ofc I have the rights to access this data but from legal departments point of view I need to ask every single person for permissions to store this data and to create administrative report from it (as per GDPR). So realistically anonymization is my only option as I don't really know how to argue against it.

On other forum (reddit) I got a response to try using "?select=" parameter at the end of API call and dropping the indentified column that way. I haven't had the time to test it out yet so I'll update this post when I have tested that. (?select=ID,Title,FirstName,LastName for example)

Hi @Jameli ,

Thanks for your feedback. Whether the method of applying the parameter for the REST API call to filter works in your side? Could you please share them if you have any workable methods? This will also help others in the community who are experiencing similar problems to yours. Thank you in advance for your sharing and time.

Best Regards
