List RLS rules in datasets

Hi,

I am getting list of datasets where row-level security was defined. (By using Power BI Rest API).

Now I am trying to show the RLS rules in all datasets.

How can I achieve this?

Thanks all

Hi @innocence84 ,

Unfortunately, there is no direct API to fetch RLS rules from the datasets. You will need to manually check the RLS rules for each dataset in the Power BI Service as described above.

To show the RLS rules in all datasets, you can follow these steps:

  1. Use the Power BI REST API to get the list of datasets with RLS defined.
  2. For each dataset, access the Security menu in the Power BI Service. This menu is usually under the "..." menu of a dataset in the workspace view, related pane, or the expand/collapse quick access section of the left navigation pane.
  3. When opening the Security page, you should see roles and users and/or groups assigned to said roles.

Please note that only dataset owners can configure RLS roles on a dataset. They must be part of the workspace that hosts the dataset and have Write permissions on it.

Best Regards,
