JSON column data type not recognized (using custom connector)

Hi,

We are loading data from a REST api serving JSON through a custom connector. Upon load it seems that all columns are only recognized as text (even though there are dates, whole numbered ID's, decimal numbers etc). Does anyone know if there is something we can do to either help PBI Desktop recognize column types or for example push column type information through the JSON / Custom connector? Many thanks!
