How to get data from 3rd party REST API in PowerBI?

Hi, I'm pretty new in Power BI, so I feel I have a mess in my head after all read Documents.

So what I need is a dashboard with Query fields and visualisation, where the user would be able to request data say from example.com/api/items endpoint and then visualise it somehow.

Where should I write my connector to this 3rd party API ? In Power Query connectors? In Power Apps connectors? In Power BI stream datasets? 🤯

Please, help me to get it

Hi @gooduling,

I think you can choose a web connector to handle the rest API.

Solved: Pull data from a REST API Authentication - Microsoft Power BI Community

Sample formula:

let
    token = "",
    Result =
        Web.Contents(
            "https://xxxxx.xxx.com",
            [
                Headers = [
                    #"Content-Type" = "application/json",
                    Authorization = "Bearer " + token,
                    RelativePath = "/api/items"
                ]
            ]
        )
in
    Result
