How to find Sharepoint lists to add to a dataset

I have created some lists in Sharepoint that I want to include in a dataset. If I paste the URL of a list in the dataset it says it's an invalid URL and that I should enter the base URL in. When I use just the base URL I see a bunch of folders that I don't see in Sharepoint, with no way to navigate to the lists.  The other tables in the dataset are from a database using import.

The other tables are just other lists and libraries in the site - you should still be able to find your list by list name. It's possible that you are dealing with subsites, too, where there's a site under a site and you accidentally connected a level above that? That's the only case I can imagine where you wouldn't be able to see the list.

I am able to see the lists by adding the subsite to the base URL.  I can see the lists and pull them into the dataset but it is only the metadata, not the list data.

I'm not sure what you mean, could you share a screenshot with any pii blanked out?

That's how it works.  You specify the "site URL"  - what you call the base URL, and then you can filter the result by the name of your list (for example).  It is advisable to use custom views so you don't have to import all the columns.
