Frequent issues with Dataset refreshes across different workspaces in power bi
Hello,
There has been frequent refresh failures with following error message:
Data source error: | {"error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_TimeoutError","pbi.error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_TimeoutError","parameters":{},"details":[],"exceptionCulprit":1}}} Table: XXXX. |
This happens randomly across different workspaces and for different tables. (DB source type: SQL Server)
What are the settings that can be checked?
What are the best practices that can be followed?
Any suggestions will be really helpful.

I have the same issue when I pull from multi source via web. Any idea that what's going on and whether you've resolved your case?

Hello,
I know this is an old post. Just wanted to provide certain inputs that may be useful.
- Restart the capacity (Premium capacity)- Disable any AI related options if that is not being used
- Setup the Capacity workload based on requirement- Schedule large datasets at certain times to minimize conflicts with other refreshes.
- Use dataflows to avoid reprocessing the same data in multiple datasets.
- Use Power BI datasets direct query datasets to reuse datasets in reports.
- Also Power BI models needs to be optimized for performance and dataset size.
Please share/add if you have more thoughts on this.
- We also got a dedicated server for Power BI gateway.
