First time using API with Power BI - help please!
Hello all,
Please can I ask for your advice or resource recommendations so i can achieve the following:
I have been given details for a company's API including the POST /Login, Key etc.
The company has said that it needs to be downloaded into an intermediary database from which i can then link to from Power BI to get the data.
How can I achieve this please?
Is to possible to use Postman to set up access to the API, schedule a regular export of a JSON file to SharePoint and then import the JSON file into Power BI?
I've never done this before and the company providing the API aren't willing to provide any information other than the Key/ connection details.
Is there any documentation/ YouTube videos etc that you can recommend which will explain what it is I need to do? 've had a look but I'm going round in circles!
Many thanks 🙂

If you have access to the HTTP connector in Power Automate (varies depending on DLP policies), it'll be easier to use that to make the API call and deposit it in SharePoint via the SharePoint connector there. You can connect to the single file or a whole folder of JSON files from SharePoint in Power BI, but technically the "proper" way to do it would be to put it in a data lake and connect to that if you have one.

You can use a scheduling tool of your choice (for example Windows Task Scheduler) to run the extracts with the tool of your choice (powershell or curl, for example).
