Enable SQL Server Failover Support for Published Dataset

Hi All,

I have an SQL datasource which only supports "read only application intents" (see Figure 1). The community solution to this problem is generally to "Enable SQL Server Failover Support" in PowerBI (see Figure 2). This solution works fine in the PowerBI desktop client however when I publish my report and datasource I recieve the following error. How can i enable SQL Server Failover support for a datasource once its published?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Make sure that you have got the permissions to add data sources to the Gateway in the Power BI Service.

Please refer to this blog:

BTW, currently for DirectQuery you can only use the Sql.Database .

Best Regards,
Liang
