Is the power bi desktop going to start using the new Microsoft Edge WebView2 soon?
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/hosting/webview2
I noticed that as-of now the desktop product embeds the CefSharp browser instead.
This may not matter one way or another from the standpoint of Power BI users who deploy their stuff to the Microsoft cloud service .... But for customers who embed their stuff in our custom applications, it would help us to know that we are going to be able to adopt the new webview2 and it will work 100% seemlessly (... because the power bi desktop itself is using the webview2).
Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks for the update mh-gd,
This change took quite a bit longer than I anticipated. I'm eager to see if there is a difference.
I suppose if Microsoft can successfully use the webview2 then there is a higher likelihood that we can start using that in our custom applications as well.
I know that this is an old post, but seems as this now comes finally:
