DataSet Query Does Not Count As Activity

I have a Power Automate flow that queries a DataSet. It turns out, that does not count as activity and PowerBI disabled the scheduled refreshes. Any suggestions or something I can do with the Flow to count the activity and prevent BI from disabling the scheduled refreshes?

You could have Power Automate run the refresh schedule instead? It can refresh PBI datasets. I don't think there's anything that PA cloud can do that would count as activity, off the top of my head, because it's not a "real" user, its just doing API calls. PA Desktop could, but that's overkill.

Thank you I will try this out and see if it counts as activity. I can appreciate the idea that and API call is not a real user, although in my opinion, it should still demonstrate it is being used and needs current data...  By design, I try and segregate a DataSet for API's. It is too easy to make a change to a DataSet/Report that has other uses, and ends up breaking the queries.

Hi @jmfillman ,

As far as I know, we can try to configure Power Automate to trigger.

Here I will give you some suggestions.

1. You can set a trigger such as “When a new email arrives” or “When a file is created.”

2. You can try Power Automate visual as a button in Power BI to trigger the refresh.
