DASHBOARD LIVE DATA FROM SQL SERVER

Hi,

In my laptop I have created one Dashboard report , with data from SQL server using direct query option.  Have completed the dashboard and uploaded to app.powerbi.com to share with my organisation.

I also have created a gateway with sql server credentials and applied to the dataset.

The dashboard gets live data from our SQL server and is working fine.

Now the issue is,

Once I switch off the Laptop, the dashboard is not loaded and gives an error as

" The data source is inaccessible because the gateway *********** is unreachable".

Should my Laptop be in ON condition through out the day or is there any solution for this?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

SRK

Hi @srkase

The on-premises data gateway acts as a bridge to provide quick and secure data transfer between on-premises data (data that isn't in the cloud) and several Microsoft cloud services.

According to your statement, you configure your gateway and add sql server credentials correctly. You need to keep your on-premises data gateway online to make it work. I think your gateway is install in your Laptop. If you shut down your Laptop, the on-premises data gateway is offline and unreachable. We suggest you to install the gateway in the device where your data source is located.

So you need to keep the device which install the on-premises data gateway and has the data source(SQL Sever) online.
