Creating pbiviz files with Visual Studio

Is it possible to compile custom visual .ts files to .pbiviz files using Visual Studio? Typescript compiler in the https://app.powerbi.com/devTools seems to be outdated, and won't compile some of the visuals. Is there a way to create .pbiviz files without online DevTools?
