Capabilities.json

Hi,

Is there anywhere that fully documents the capabilities.json file ? There seem to be a lot of different options within the file that I have seen in the samples but no detailed documentation to understand what each thing does.

Thanks

Dave

Hi Dave,

Have you already checked the followings -
Capabilities:
https://github.com/Microsoft/PowerBI-visuals/blob/master/Capabilities/Capabilities.md

DataViewMapping:
https://github.com/Microsoft/PowerBI-visuals/blob/master/Capabilities/DataViewMappings.md

Objects:

There's also a couple of videos which explain basic step by step including a section on capabilities.json

@daveevans99,

You may check the corresponding capabilities JSON schema at https://github.com/Microsoft/PowerBI-visuals-tools/tree/master/templates/visuals/.api. Now the default API version for new visuals is 1.2.0.

Hi Sam,

Thanks for your reply. That's not too bad. It would be great if there was a page that gives examples of how to use each part of the file and just go into the detail a bit more.
