Cannot connect to Dataverse in Power BI Report Builder (Paginated Report)

Hi Community,

I'm new to Paginated Report, and just download Power BI Report Builder on my laptop. But when I tried to connect to Dataverse, it always show this error:

Could someone tell me what is the problem? I'm entering the correct server name where I copied from Power Apps Environment URL.

Thank you!!!

Hi @Gabiiiii ,

The steps to connect from Power BI Report Builder to Dataverse are:

  1. Make sure you have the latest Report Builder installed. If not sure, check for updates here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=58158 Be aware that there are different Report Builders for Power BI and for Report Server (aka Power BI on-premises). Only Report Builder for Power BI supports connection to Dataverse. If you are using Report Builder for Report Server, then you need to set up an ETL pipeline from Dataverse to a supported data source first, e.g. by using Synapse Link and the Synapse serverless SQL endpoint which can be accessed from Report Builder for Report Server.
  2. Make sure you are not behind a firewall in your organization or on your computer that blocks the connection to Dataverse. It is necessary to open the port 5558 besides 443 and enable TDS, see https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/powerapps-docs/issues/2271 Alternatively, you can install Power BI Report Builder on any private laptop or computer and try connecting to Dataverse from there. Once the paginated report is published to Power BI Service, there is no more firewall inbetween Power BI Service and Dataverse during refresh.
  3. Start Power BI Report builder and connect to your Dataverse source. You need to choose Dataverse (not SQL Server), enter the server name in the format shown in the screenshot, and for login, select Azure Active Directory and enter your email address:
