Auto-refreshing Embedded Report published to Public Web

Dear Team,

Recently I came across a requirement to fetch data from SQL Server on Azure, build a Power BI Report (I have a Power BI Pro license) and publish it to a Web (Public) where the embedded Report needs to refresh every 5 minutes.

I tried various approaches like:

1. Direct Query usage in combination with setting the Page Refresh setting, but finally could not publish it due to restrictions in Power BI.

2. Landing the data from SQL Server to Microsoft Fabric's Lakehouse and refreshing the underlying Semantic Model using scheduling through a Pipeline. (I use Fabric capacity too).

3. Created Power BI Report using Desktop app using Import Query, then publishing on Fabric Workspace, finally refreshing the Semantic Model using a Pipeline in Fabric.

These all finally could not help me solve the requirement.

With my limited knowledge, I could not find a way out so far.

May I therefore request your expertise in helping me with the steps needed to solve this problem? Many thanks in advance!

HI @subhrajeit12,

#1, For report that shared with publish to web feature, you can not customize its refresh interval less than 30 minutes.

#2, I'd like to suggest you take a look at the power bi embedded feature and real-time streaming to design your report. (it can display the real time data on the dashboard)

HI @subhrajeit12,

AFAIK, the published report which share with publish to web feature will cache the report data and update every 30 minutes to 1 hour to update the cached report data. The source report update settings and policies should not affect the mechanism.

Hi @v-shex-msft ,

Many thanks for your quick response!

Does this mean that there is no way to refresh the report embedded to Public Web - to less than 30 minutes?

In other words, does Power BI not have the ability to embed (near) real-time Report to any public Website?

How can this at all be achieved?

Any thoughts?

Regards.
