Hello,
Can I use what if analysis when connecting live - Tabular or Direct Query?
Thank you!
Solved! Go to Solution.
In that case, you need to build your auxiliar tables to do the whatif scenario you need in the source database.
Later, in Power BI Desktop you can develop the measures for the analysis.
The only difference between import or direct query in a whatif scenario is where auxiliar tables must be created.
Best,
Jorge.

Hi,
I just found this topic, can you elaborate more on "what is an auxiliary table" and how it works in Direct Query environment ?
Because, as I know now, "What-if" analysis in Power BI always create new table, this will change Direct Query to Mixed mode.
Can we have a "pure" Direct Query but use What-if" analysis.
Thanks,
Hi Yael,
Direct query has several limitations (you can see it in the Microsoft Documentation). Would be enough for you with a refresh each 30 mins for example? In that case you could use the import data option and develop the whatif scenario that you need.

Thanks @GeorgeBuster, I was looking for what if analysis for connect live but thanks Anyways 🙂
