Hello there,
I am trying to visualize a radio question into a card to show the percent of individuals who have made a selection out of the total who responded. For clarity, I have one column in my dataset that contains a range of five response options. Each respondent chose one of the five options (typical multiple choice question). How do I show the percentage of the total? Do I need a special formula or app?
Thanks,
Carmel
Solved! Go to Solution.
To display users who are either Satisfied or Highly Satisfied, you can use the slightly modified formula:
% Highly Satisfied = DIVIDE(COUNTROWS(FILTER(Table1, Table1[Column] = "Highly Satisfied" || Table1[Column] = "Satisfied")), COUNTROWS(Table1))
I'm not familiar with any app that automates this, so I can't offer help there. You may get the hang of DAX formulas after a little while and it will definitely become easier over time!
Hi there! If I understand correctly, you want to show what percentage of total respondents chose a given answer.
You can simply create a visual based off of your numerical data. Then, for the "Values" of the visual, right click on "Count of Respondents" (or however you have named it), go to "Show value as" and choose "Percent of grand total".
Hope this helps!
Thanks for your response! I don't have numerical values but rather index values. Does this matter?
When I go through these actions my percentage of grand total always equals 100% but I know that the percentage should be lower since not all respondents selected the same answer. Have you experienced this before?
Could you send a screenshot of a sample of your data? I made some assumptions about how your data was formatted when I shouldn't have.
This is what the dataset looks like, I have a lot of columns in this formatting where I want to show the percentage of program participants satisfied with varying aspects of their experience.
My mistake! I misread part of your situation. You would like to show the percent in a card.
Let's take a different route. I create a measure as follows:
% Highly Satisfied = DIVIDE(COUNTROWS(FILTER(Table1, Table1[2. Overall experience. Please indicate your level of satisfaction] = "Highly Satisfied")), COUNTROWS(Table1))
This is essentially taking the number of respondents who chose "Highly Satisfied" divided by the total number of respondents.
From there, click on the measure to the right, go to Modeling, and click on the percent symbol so that the result is formatted as a percentage instead of a decimal. Then, just use the measure for the card.
Thank you so much! that worked! but boy was that a lot of work... I have to visualize a lot of similar data points so I was wondering if you know of an app in the microsoft store that can automate this.
Also, do you know of a formula solution if I am interested in displaying the total percentage of satisfied (both highly satisfied and satisfied) in one percentage in one card?
To display users who are either Satisfied or Highly Satisfied, you can use the slightly modified formula:
% Highly Satisfied = DIVIDE(COUNTROWS(FILTER(Table1, Table1[Column] = "Highly Satisfied" || Table1[Column] = "Satisfied")), COUNTROWS(Table1))
I'm not familiar with any app that automates this, so I can't offer help there. You may get the hang of DAX formulas after a little while and it will definitely become easier over time!
Thank you for all of your help!!! This little formula is really going to help with my report. I think I will be taking a DAX course soon.
