Hi 

I'm using filled map in my report and certain districts of a Hong Kong is not picking up filled color values based on the utilization percentage while some districts are not. Any suggestions how this can be solved. Thanks in advance

It sounds like you are experiencing an issue with certain Hong Kong districts not displaying colour in the Filled Map visual, even though utilization values are present. This can happen when Power BI is unable to recognize or geocode some of the district names properly especially for smaller administrative regions like those in Hong Kong.

Here are a few suggestions to help resolve this:

• Verify that district names are spelled exactly as Bing Maps expects. Consider appending Hong Kong to each district name to help disambiguate the location (e.g., “Sha Tin, Hong Kong”).
• Set the correct Data Category for your geographic column: Select the column in Power BI. Go to the ribbon → Column tools → Data Category → set it to Place or Address. More info: Data categorization in Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
• Check if the utilization percentage column has blank or missing values for the districts that are not showing. Power BI may skip these if the values are null or zero.

Hi @kevinmathew11  - can you try with concatenate like eg . Full_District_Name = [District] & ", Hong Kong"

and also you can set the data category label to the field.

I concatenated the district name with "Hong Kong" to help the filled map recognize North and Eastern districts correctly. However, I’m now facing the following issues:

• Kowloon City and Kwai Tsing districts are still not being recognized (highlighted in red in the screenshot).

• Central and Western and Wan Chai districts are being incorrectly grouped under the Southern district. This issue existed even before the concatenation (highlighted in blue).
• Islands District is now being grouped under the North District — the tooltip shows “North” when hovering over the Islands area. This issue started after concatenation (highlighted in orange).

I’ve verified that all district names are correctly spelled. Currently, the Region Value and District Name with Country are being used in the Location field of the filled map.
