Is it possible to set up security to restrict specific personnel, to view the data tied to their respective areas.
For example: if there were a dashboard showing sales figures for three countries, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia.
Total sales for all three countries is $100,000.00, where Japan has $50,000.00, Singapore has $25,000.00, and Malaysia has $25,000.00. Could we restrict a user to only see data for malaysia, and therefor it would only display $25,000.00?
If this is possible, may I know the format in the RLS DAX table?

Hey,
here you will a little pbix file, this file contains a little table, with one role defined:
The Role fefinition:
Just define the other roles accordingly 🙂
And how it looks like, if the role is used
Please be aware, that RLS just works if you import the data. If you use a Live Connect to a SSAS Tabular model, you have to define the roles at the server level.
Hope this is what you are looking for
Regards Tom

Thank you for sharing! How do I give other Power Bi users that role? I would like to share this Dashboard with my co-worker now, but I only watn him to view the report as Japan.
Hey,
you have to publish your report to the Power BI Service (assuming you are somewhat familiar with the Power BI Service, if not - start here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-get-started)
Create an App workspace (Power BI Pro licence is required) and Publish your Report (pbix.file) to this workspace
Create an App from the content of your workspace.
Add your co-worker to this app.
Without a Premium Capacity, your co-worker also needs a Power BI Pro licence.
Regards
Tom
