refering to hidden columns? (consuming direct tabular model)

I am using a DirectQuery to a tabular model... and in the model there are some hidden tables: I can't modify them from Power BI. (I am not even able to see the 'Data' 'view' on the left, not sure why...)

My question is: Can I refer to hidden columns and measures in DAX, or do I have to modify the model in SSAS?

Yes, you can reference them. And you can even see them in the "Sort by Other Column" dialog.
