"Options" under "File" menu is not getting applied in PowerBI Desktop (free version - no sign in).

Hi Community,

I am learning PowerBI desktop and have been facing this error (only in my device, worked well in my friend's machine as I personally checked it).

Issue: File menu ----> Options and Settings ---> Options

None of the options which I select / deselect (specially I checked multiple times with "Use Map & Filled Map Visuals" under "security" tab , "Update Notifications" under "updates" tab) are getting applied to the application at global / report level.

Pic -1: I am reopening the report which I just saved after seeing the error on the newly inserted map chart. The map now seems to be loaded with the data points provided, but still it is not customizable ( trying to format it loops back to the same error)

Pic 3: Adjusting the "Security" settings under the "Options" menu as insisted in the error dialog box. However, OK button gets greyed out and this pop-up window doesn't close on its own. So I have to manually close it. Save the changes and re-open PowerBI application.

Pic 4: Reopened same report. Newly inserted map appears, but again as in 1st pic; its not customizable. Again if a new map needs to be inserted, again same error (as in 2nd pic) pops out.

I am also unable to select the "Update Notifications" option under the same "Global" section of "Options" menu. Also is there any way of contacting Microsoft support for these issues?

How did you manage to save the changes after it greyed out to make it work when you reopen the editor?

Im struggling with the same issues. Unable to change anything in the menu. ArcGIS turned itself on at some point and I'm unable to switch it off to see any maps.
