i defined 12 months period to retain historical data and 1 month period for refreshing incremental data while setting up the refresh policy
i gave the range start and range end parameters values from 01-Oct-2025 until 30-Sep 2025 , the incremental refresh was working fine until 30th Sep 2025 and stopped from October month onwards , what could be the issue?

Hi @powerbiexpert22,
I am sure whatever the dates you provided in the PBI desktop application that doesn't effect on incremental refresh. Those dates are just development purpose.
I would suggest you that please check once in the SSMS how the partions are working and latest date&time stamp, in this way you will came to know whether the incremental refresh is updating data or not.
I hope you can able to see 12 partitions for 12 months archived data(from 1/11/2024 to 31/10/2025) and 1 month(1/11/2025 to 30/11/2025) for data refresh.
Thanks,

Hi @ajaybabuinturi ,
if the range start and range end does not matter then what could be the reason of stopping incremental refresh
Hi @powerbiexpert22,
The below resources are provided a handful information about Incremental Refresh by using SSMS(for backend process). However we need berify your BI report is doing incremental refresh or not, for this you need check Point No-5 whether the current month partition have receent date&time stamp or not from the 1st reource.

Hi @sergej_og ,
sorry, it was my bad..values set were below
Range Start: 01-Sep-2024
Range End: 30-Sep-2025
Yeah, I was sure you this range.
To achieve your goal (refresh 1 month) you need to set the Range End paramenter to something like 01.01.2040 - meaning in the distant future.
My setup is looking like this (in PQ):
On the table:
Hope this helps you.

Hi @sergej_og , i read in microsoft documentation that power bi service overrides range start and range end parameters, in this case, does it still matter which value i specify in range start and range end parameters in power bi dekstop?, please see below documentation and post
Solved: Incremental Refresh | RangeStart vs RangeEnd Param... - Microsoft Fabric Community
Don't know what is meant by "overidden"...with what?
That makes less sense, since your incremental refresh was working fine for a while.
In case of override you wouldn't have a working incr. refresh at all.
I would try with a RangeEnd in a distant future.
You have nothing to loose here.

Hey @powerbiexpert22 ,
what do you mean?
I'd say works as designed...at least it looks a bit weird.
Having this on your data column applied you won't get new data after September 2024.
Best
Hey @powerbiexpert22 ,
I thought so.
I think you still have a typo there...."values from 01-Oct-2025 until 30-Sep 2025", makes less sense. Oct 2025 is bigger that Sept 2025.
But I think the issue is the same. You want to have the refresh until 30-Sep-2025. Ok, but we are now in Nov-2025.
Your data is not going to be refreshed because Sep-2025 is past.
What do you think?
Maybe I don't get your point completely.
Can you paste your incr. refresh setup for the tabel pls.
Regards
