import message

Hi,

I have created a PowerBI model based on some exports (3 Xlsx files).

Every month the routine with the new data (3 files) have to be performed again.

Is there a way that PowerBI can prompt a message when I open the PBI file with the question "Select the directory which contain the Xlsx files to perform the routine".

1. User exports the 3 specific files from the CRM system and stores them in a directory (called year-month)

2. opens the PBI files with the model

3. PBI file prompts question: "Select the directory which contain the Xlsx files to perform the routine".

4. User submits the file path that contains the Xlsx files.

5. PBI performs calculations (based on PowerQuery steps and DAX ) and updates visuals based on the new data

Can this be done by a parameter perhaps?

Regards,

Erwin

HI @Evandam,

AFAIK, the current power bi does not include the notice message feature. Perhaps you can try to create a template file that is based on excel files, Then you can use it to create different reports based on different data sources.

BTW, why not design a report on the power bi side? After you create the reports, you only need to use the update feature to get the last data from the source data to refresh your report contents.

@Evandam , I doubt you can give a popup message on the desktop. But you can take the help of bookmarks.

Have one box visible unless closed . It was discussed in a video from guyinacube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZ0FwDr9SXU
