highlight column chart based on slicer

Hi,

In my dashboard we have a column chart showing monthwise sales, we have a slicer connected to this and my boss wants different colours to highlight the columns ( in chart ) based on the selections we make thru slicer ( multiple selection option is on ) ,

Request your guidance on how to make this happen

regards,

dsmitha

Hi, did you ever manage to do this? i'm trying to make a selection from a slicer just highlight the data points in my chart, the data behind it contains supplier names and id like to be able to select a supplier name from the slicer and have either overlay the curent chart/grey out what isn't relevant to that supplier, or to slice the data but keep all the now blank months spaced the same way

@dsmitha Well, it's going to involve a measure that you use for the conditional formatting for the Columns. Found in the Visualizations pane under the Column card you would use the fx button to tie the measure to the color. But, without more information hard to be more specific.

Sorry, having trouble following, can you post sample data as text and expected output?
Not really enough information to go on, please first check if your issue is a common issue listed here: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/Before-You-Post-Read-This/ba-p/1116882

Also, please see this post regarding How to Get Your Question Answered Quickly: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/How-to-Get-Your-Question-Answered-Quickly/ba-p/38490

The most important parts are:
1. Sample data as text, use the table tool in the editing bar
2. Expected output from sample data
3. Explanation in words of how to get from 1. to 2.

Hi Greg_Deckler,

Sample DATA attached

dsmitha_0-1679253934541.png

We have two visuals 01) column chart ( displaying month wise sales )

02)   slicer -  ( year and month )

from the slicer if we select say Jan 2023 then the bar in column chart should  get highlighted in Green, if we select multiple months then accordingly bars in column chart should display different colours ( say if we select jan, feb and march in slicer then column representing these months should display in Green, red, blue )

kindly guide us how to make this happen

regards,

dsmitha
