dynamic columns in data tables or matrix

Hi everyone,

I have a business question. I have data for different units of a company (say retail, mortgage and cars). I want to make plots that are common across the units and some that are specific to the unit. I want to create a filter on the unit and when a user selects a unit, some specific fields are plotted for that unit (and will change based on the sector). This is because some fields will anyway be blank for other units (e.g. floor area would be filled in the mortgage but not in cars) so plotting them for all sectors would show blank plots when a non-relevant sector is selected.

Is there a way to do this? I know of the parameter solution that works only for table visuals (to show specific columns upon slicer selection).

Thanks everyone

Hello @TMASHELE ,

field parameters work on visuals other than table visuals, try it.

I tried it on matrices, it doesn't work. If I'm mistaken can you pls guide on how to use them for matrices or pie-charts for an example?

Thanks for the video, it was very helpful! However, it still doesn't show how field parameters would work with a matrix visual. Perhaps there's another solution to show different columns upon a slicer selection on a matrix?
