connect power bi with nav on premises without sql database access

Hello,

I need to create power BI report for one of my client. They use NAV 2016.

Thier Cloud provider ACA do not give permission to the SQL server. But,  they can install the ‘extension’ for PowerBI.

How can I make report without access to sql database?

Appreciate your help in advance.

Regards

Anu Goyal

Hi @Anu,

In Power BI desktop, can you get data by the Dynamic NAV(highlighted in yellow background)?

Hi Angelia,

I have not tried fetching data through Dyanmics(Beta). Will try it now.

I tried to fetch data through OData Feed.  But it was not a succesfull connection. Error comes "Connection is closed".

I believe we don't need access to sql database for integrating NAV online and POWER BI, Am I right? Please correct me if I am wrong.

Regards

Anu

Hi @Anu,

Yes, the access to SQL Server is different NAV permission.  The client must give you NAV permission if they want to let you use the data.

Angelia
