even though i have turned off concatenate labels, it does not get deactivated in the chart, please advise

Based on your description, I cannot know your scenario clearly.
By my tests with concatenate labels for Clustered column chart, it seems that the concatenate labels works for rhe scenario when we click Expend all down one in the hierarchy like below.
If you need further help, please share more details about your scenario so that we could help further on it.

It seems that you have clicked the Drill down icon. I'm afraid that concatenate labels will work when you click the one of the bar in the chart after you clicking the Drill down.

I had the same problem and what I did to make it works was to change the sort by in my chart.
