cell elements and parameters

I have a table that contains a set of dimentions and metrics within a parameter, I am also using the parameter as a slicer so that end users can choose which columns they want to view. 

I have used cell elements to display icons instead of numbers on some dimentions. They display as expected until I use the parameter slicer to reduce the fields displayed, they revert to their orginal value and all cell element formatting is removed. 

Is there anyway I can avoid this from happening please?
