calendar date table

Hello,

I am in Direct Query mode.
for each date, a column for year, quarter, and month was created in the database. This was done for practical reasons, as a user will want to display information by month or year for different dates in a table vizual.

I do not understand the usefulness of having a calendardate table in this case.

Thank you for your explanations.

best regards

All Time Intelligence functions require a contiguous and covering calendar table that ideally is marked as a Date table.  This table is usually very small, so its impact on your data model is minimal. It is highly recommended that each of your data models includes that table.
