azure blob loading problems

Hi,

My reports directly connected to an Azure blob. The container A is like 300 MB big so everytime the report refreshes slowly. What I do is copy some of the data to container B and connect report to container B, which is 190 MB. However, after doing so, it still refreshes really slow and the power bi software showed that It still loaded 300MB data every time.

Any thoughts? I've been working on this for a whole day and my boss is mad at me.

I really appreciate your help.

(P.S. I am sure I connected to the right container because the power bi is now only showing data from container B)

Any solution for this?

I'm facing the same issue.  The refresh from the web keeps timing out and it has a direct connection to the blob, which is about 300 MB, and when I refresh with the pbix file it's extremely slow.  This started happening for us back in February and up to that point things were fine.

Hi @pandakillsalot,

Did you create an independent mode (pbix file) for the 190MB data? If you connect to the two parts of the data source (190MB and 110MB) in a single file, all the 300MB file will be refreshed in the Power BI Service.

Best Regards,

Dale

Nope, I only connected to one container. I found that the actual problem is the blob explorer gave me the wrong description of how big the file is. The actual size is way bigger than it showed on the blob. Thank you for your reply.

Yep, the file is connected directly to the container A which only contains 190 MB data.  The blob said that the whole container is 190 MB without calculating the snapshot. I am not sure how big the snapshot is.
