active directory user as data source

Hello,

I am trying to use Active Directory as a data source, and I am able to connect to our domain AD without issue.  I am able to define data sources and the table names appear that are available.  I am trying to retrieve the user id's.  For example, if the persons name is Pete Jones the user id is PJones.  I cannot find which table holds the user id.  Any recommendations?

hi, @apbiuser

The user id filed should be in the user table, Have you checked that if the column exists in that table?

I already knew how to access the Active Directory from Power BI.  The columns I was looking for were in fact in the User table.  However, within the user table there are links to other tables.  You have to inspect each of the columns to see what bits of information are available.  This was a long and not easy task.  It would be nice if there were a document that contained the default descriptors within AD and where each is explicitly found in the schema.  If such a document does exist I have not been able to locate it.

I really second that. It is really time-consuming to expand the different columns to see where the data is found. I have not been able to find any suitable documentation from Microsoft for this. There is extensive documentation for the MS Graph API, but that is setup differently and not applicable for the PBI connector afaik.
