Workspace sharing to PowerBi Dekstop

Hi,

So I just created a PowerBi file and Published it in my Organization dashboard which I recently created and have admin rights. I have recently added more people to the Dashboard with admin rights as well. Is there anyway they can access the published report in their PowerBi desktop apps or do they have to use the Web version? TRhe problem with the web version is that it doesnt allow to refresh to obtain data from a SharePoint where we upload the backup information.

In an ideal world I would like to Publish a PowerBi report to our shared Workspace and People that have access to that workspace will see that report recently uploaded in their PowerBi desktop app. Is there any way to achieve this? or is there any similar ways.

Thank you!

  • Hello Eduardoruizgr,

Can you please try to publish the report to the Power BI Service (Workspace).

Then, enable scheduled refresh for the SharePoint data source.

You can allow users to download the .pbix file from the Power BI Service if desktop editing is necessary. Also, if refreshing data directly in Power BI Desktop is critical, use OneDrive or SharePoint for sharing the .pbix file.

Alternatively, you can also use Microsoft Teams to embed Power BI reports. This will allow your team to view and interact with the reports in a familiar collaborative environment while accessing the same data.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi Eduardoruizgr

Workspace users that have admin roles should be able to refresh the dataset without having to take it over. Now if wethers users can access the reports from the desktop - yes or no.  Yes, they can download the pbix to the desktop and open it.  No, Power BI doesn't work like Excel, Word or PowerPoint.
