Hi experts,
My situation is that I have a existing dashboard. The dataset is uploaded from local file and the data mode is import mode. I have questions about the data mode after changing the data source from local file to SharePoint file and listed below:
Thanks!

Hi cshi,
Please find my remarks below.
1. It doesn't change to direct query by changing data source from local to sharepoint.
2. Dataset needs to be set up for schedule refresh to get the most recent data from sharepoint file. During the refresh PowerBI gets data from sharepoint and displays same in the reports or dashbaords.
Appreciate a Kudos!
If this helps and resolves the issue, please mark it as a Solution!

Also, is that mean as long as the data source is changed to SharePoint Online, the dashboard/reports can be sync with the updated dataset without reimporting the dataset, no matter the data mode is (for example import mode)?
Hi nvprasad,
Thanks for your quick reply!
Another question that, if I don't set up scheduled refresh (just a single refresh), do I need to update the data file from sharepoint and then click Refresh button? or I can just edit the file in SharePoint Online. And once I save, those changes will appear in Power BI.
If I set up schedule refresh, then everytime I need to refresh the data, I can just edit on the dataset from SharePoint and it will refresh as needed frequency?
Hi cshi,
Schedule refresh is the process of the setting up refresh in defined timings so manually you need not to refresh.
